NeiSynth, a sound bank for Specimen is now ready for release. All sounds are generated with the “cat” command that you can read about in the popular post convert an image to music.
We are launching a new section here at Linux Audio Blog, containing sound banks licensed under creative commons for different synth and samplers. First out is the Cat Synth v0.1 for Specimen. Soon neisynth will arrive and also neikit for Hydrogen.
You might have connected Zyn to play a sound for your midi-keyboard or a single midi-track. But did you know that it’s possible to handle different sounds on different channels, enabling you to map Zyn’s entire instrument bank for multichannel playback. Rosegarden by default has instrument channels that correspond to Zyn.
First you configure Zyn to handle different sounds
The interesting things in the picture are:

Load the desired instrument from the bank.
To load another instrument on a different channel step up the part number and load it from the bank.
If you want to load more instruments just repeat the procedure.
Then you configure Rosgarden to map them
On each track choose the same play devise that is connected to Zyn. The instruments #1, #2 correspond to the same channels in Zyn, Ch 1, Ch 2.
